Our committee is very excited to plan the 12th Annual Toast series of events benefiting Wyomissing Area Education Foundation.  This year, we are working hard to plan our events while maintaining flexibility and respect for current public health restrictions.  Proceeds from these events will support teacher-driven grants awarded throughout the year that fund a variety of curriculum enhancements.

COVID-19 has drastically changed all of our lives and the way Wyomissing Area School District is providing education to our students, so the need for WAEF and the support it provides is more critical than ever.  Here are some of the ways WAEF has supported Wyomissing since the school closure:

  • iPads for elementary students

  • Document cameras for use in virtual learning

  • At-home learning kits for elementary students

  • Biotech in the Classroom grant for the Junior-Senior High School

  • Styluses to develop dexterity and fine motor skills when using iPads

  • Books to guide gifted students with social-emotional learning

  • Fees to attend a leadership conference

  • Gooseneck tablet holders for use with iPads

What is the plan for this year’s fundraising events?

  • Launch our second annual online auction on May 3rd, 2021!

The auction will close on 5/8/2021, the date of the planned in-person event.  Last year’s online auction was so            well received that we were encouraged to repeat it in 2021, regardless of our ability to gather in person. Auction        items will be available for online bidding from 5/3/2021 to 5/8/2021, and those bids will carry over to the in-              person event.

  • Hold the Blue & White Party on Saturday, May 8th, 2021 in the outdoor tent on the grounds of the Reading Public Museum!  This is our signature event during which we honor the “Unsung Heroes” of the halls of all three WASD buildings. This evening is a celebration with music, silent auction and wonderful food and beverages.

Contingency plans are in place in the event we are unable to hold our in-person event.

What does this mean for supporters of WAEF?

Regardless of whether we hold the online auction/in-person event combination or simply the online auction, the need for a successful fundraising effort is as important as ever.  Your donation of an auction item or sponsorship provides much needed funds that allow WAEF to continue to enhance educational opportunities in the Wyomissing Area School District.  Your donation will be promoted in our social media posts, email newsletters, website, and Annual Report just as in any other year.  Event tickets based on sponsorship level may not be possible, if the in-person event is cancelled.  In that case, your tax benefit will be the full amount of your sponsorship based on law and your particular tax situation.  If the in-person event is held and you redeem your included event tickets, your tax benefit will reflect the sponsorship amount minus the value of your redeemed tickets.

Your impact on the students and staff of the WASD will remain the same, and your support will be appreciated more than ever!
